Some, like the “black-collared love parrot” that feeds on a certain type of fig fruit growing in its native habitat, which makes feeding it in a cage difficult.

Although ready-made bird pellets (bird feed) should make up the majority of the rose’s diet, it needs to be fortified with grains, fruits, vegetables and fresh plant foods , so that they make up about 25% of the weight of the food provided to it.

Rose birds need to be provided with drinking water constantly, as they drink approximately 300 ml per day, and they prefer to moisten their food before eating it, and it must be noted that the water must be pure, clean and of moderate temperature.

The amount of food for the rose bird

Generally, about 1-1.5 tablespoons of ready-made feed can be provided to each bird per day, or the equivalent of 45-60 grams. It is also preferable not to leave the rose bird food bowl completely empty, or to fill it in exaggerated quantities.

 

Rose birds are usually fed in the morning, so that they can continue to eat their feed throughout the day when they are hungry. It is also preferable to feed them with fresh food of fruits and vegetables once to twice a day.

Feeding chicks of rose birds

As for the chicks of rose birds, feeding them may require additional effort and experience, as they need to be fed a special formula of ground grain every hour after hatching until they reach the age of one week by injecting them orally, then feeding them every 2-3 hours until they are two to three months old.

Fresh fruits : especially kiwi, plums, figs, grapes, citrus fruits, melons, and bananas.

Vegetables : carrots, peas, tomatoes, radishes, cucumbers, broccoli, sweet peppers, and beets.

Foods harmful to rose birds
