The most prominent cockatiel colors

The cockatiel has many colors, and the following is a list of the most prominent of these colors:

Gray Cockatiel

This color is considered one of the natural colors of the cockatiel, because it does not show any chromosomal genetic mutations. This species has gray bodies with white markings on their wings and tails, and orange spots on the cheeks. Adult females have yellow spots on the head when they are fully developed, while males have Completely yellow heads, it is considered the most common cockatiel color,  and the origin of all other cockatiel colors.

Yellowface Cockatiel

This type is very similar to the Gray Cockatiel, except that the spots on their cheeks are yellow instead of orange, and they may include yellow feathers on the top of the head. They have gray and white bodies, with color spikes appearing in the head area.

Lutino Cockatiel

In this type of cockatiel, only the orange and yellow colors appear. These birds have bright yellow faces and orange cheek spots. They have red eyes and their bodies have white feathers. There are also areas devoid of feathers and white in color at the back of its head. Silver Cockatiel

In this type of cockatiel , there are many chromosomal genetic mutations that affect the original gray color of the cockatiel, which makes their gray feathers appear silvery. This type is characterized by the presence of some white marks on the wing and tail feathers, and their cheek spots are yellow or orange in color. The color of their head feathers tends to be yellow.

Pied Cockatiel

This color mutation is considered the first cockatiel mutation to be obtained, in the early 1950s. Pied cockatiels are characterized by a mixture of yellow or white colors with light or dark gray colors. They also have dark yellow spots on the cheeks. This mutation has two types: Pied Al-Safi and is identical to the Lutino cockatiel in appearance, except that its eyes are not red like the Lutino, and the pearly pide cockatiel.

The head is yellow or white, and the gray color spreads over the rest of the body. 

Blue cockatiel

It is completely white in color, with black markings on the wings, and a blue color on the tail. This type is distinguished by the absence of any colored spots on their cheeks, and they do not have yellow feathers on the top of the head like other types of cockatiels, and this color is considered one of the rarest. Fallow Cockatiel

This species has a yellowish-brown body that appears dull in color, and may have some gray coloring on the wings and the underside of the body. Their eyes tend to be red, and their white heads may show some yellow coloring.
