The owl is one of the predatory birds of prey that is active at night and its enemy for the day, as it is not seen during the day due to its wide eyes, as it only sees in the dark as it hunts its prey in the dark, and it feeds on pigeons, young chickens, mice, and reptiles such as lizards and snakes, and it pounces on its prey suddenly without them feeling it because its feathers It is very soft and does not make a sound when flapping and flying.

Owl in Islam.

It was seen by the Arabs in the past and some Western peoples as a bird of pessimism.
And they think that when it stands on someone’s house, it means that doom is coming to him.
But when Islam came, it denied all of this, and when the Messenger of God asked about it, he said, “There is no contagion, no disease, no harm,” meaning that it is not as harmful as they think.

The sound of the owl at night.

The owl’s voice is called “Nham”, and its voice at night means that it is ready to marry or to camouflage that there is danger. It is a language that only other owls understand.
And when she makes her voice during the day, it means that she needs protection and help and that there is danger attacking her.

Eagle owl.

It is also called the horns, and it is considered the largest species of owls in the world, and it is found in Jordan only, as it was not found in any other country.
It is active at night only and lives in caves, wells, and isolated, deserted areas, far from the presence of humans.

Egyptian owl.

It was called by the ancient Egyptians the sacred bird, but in the past, the Pharaonic king Ramses II punished him because he slapped him on the face with his wings.
However, the ancient Egyptians sanctified it and made it a hieroglyphic letter.
But recently, the Egyptians look at it as a bird of pessimism when seeing it or just hearing its voice, as it throws terror into the hearts due to its wide eyes.

It is believed by some people, especially in primitive societies, that it brings death and bad luck, and that it loves human blood.
Thus, they thought that it brings magic, ruin and harm to it, but all this has no basis in truth at all.
