Baby canaries without any help.

Canary mating season

The two canaries are being transported; The male and female go to one cage for mating, in the month of March of each year, so that the female begins building the nest, or transporting food to the nest that is already in the cage, so that the male begins courting the female by singing to her, and if the female desires this mating, the command will be done, so that she begins laying Eggs a day later.

How to prepare canaries for breeding

Canary bird breeders can prepare their birds during the mating season for breeding, by doing the following:

Shop for breeding products, which consist of a medium to large-sized cage, a nest for the female canary to sit in, a source of light, as the bird needs 14 hours of light every day, and other basic materials such as food and drink cans, in addition to maintaining the temperature around 21°C.

Separate the male and female canaries until the mating season, as the nature of the males of this bird is somewhat aggressive and may attack the female, so they must be separated in separate cages but in the same room until the mating season.

Monitor the actions of both birds. If the male begins to sing loudly, while lowering his wings, this means he is courting the female. As for the female, she begins to raise her tail and bow as an indication of her desire to mate.

The next step is to place the cages opposite each other and monitor the behavior of the two birds.

Gather the two birds in one cage, provide them with appropriate, high-energy food, calcium, and protein, and monitor them. If hostility or attack from one of them toward the other is noticed, they must be separated quickly.

If mating occurs, the female will begin laying eggs on a daily basis, reaching a maximum of eight eggs.

Feeding canaries during pregnancy

The canary bird must be provided with a balanced diet that contains protein, and the main vitamins and minerals necessary for it. Thus, boiled eggs can be provided as a source of protein, and fish bones, shells, or squid can be provided to provide it with the necessary calcium. It is also good to provide the bird with vegetable and fruit salad on a daily basis. It is cut into small pieces, and some of the favorites of these birds are carrots and lettuce. As for the basic food for the bird, which must be provided twice a day to one person, it is grains. The bird breeder must remove the husks of the grains by blowing on the food dish, and refill it with grains again.
