The English Budgie was obtained through pet breeding and trade programs, through selective mating of Budgies for several generations, and this species has a variety of amazing Budgie colors.

It is worth noting here that all colors and types of Budgies that are raised in captivity are the products of the English Budgie’s breeding, as up to 32 color mutations were obtained from its mating, and they are not considered one of its different breeds or types, but rather different color mutations only. .

Different colors of budgies

The colors of budgerigar birds are divided into two main subgroups: birds with a white basic color, and birds with a yellow basic color. Below is a breakdown of the most prominent of these groups and types:

Sky Blue Budgie: It is distinguished by its light blue color, and it is not possible to find a blue budgie lighter in color than it. It is characterized by the presence of pink-purple spots on the cheeks, and dark blue feathers on the tail.

Cobalt Budgie: It resembles the sky blue budgie in shape and color, except that its color is darker in comparison.

Mauve Budgie: It is darker in color than cobalt, and may be confused with the gray budgie. It is characterized by the presence of blue spots on the cheeks, while the gray budgie has silvery gray spots on the cheeks.

Gray Budgie: It is completely gray in color, with blue, gray, or bluish-gray spots on the cheeks, black tail feathers, and has several colors. Such as light, medium and dark grey.

Albino Budgie: It is completely white in color

Yellow Budgie: It may be completely yellow, or mostly yellow with light green spots on the sides.

Olive green budgie: The budgie’s color is very dark olive green, and it has purple spots on the cheeks, and dark blue tail feathers.

The type of budgie according to the patterns on its body

Budgies are divided into two main types according to the type of patterns found on their body, and these two types are:

Opaline Budgie : It has fewer patterns, lines, and waves in the head, shoulders, and back area compared to the normal type, and the general color of the body appears on the wing. For example, the yellow-green opaline bird appears with a black and green wing color, instead of black and yellow as the normal bird appears, and it is the most common budgerigar mutation.

Spangle Budgies : This type has distinctive marks and spots on the throat and wings, and most of them have black wing feathers surrounded by the basic body color of yellow or white.
