Coturnix

This breed ( Coturnix quail) (scientific name: Coturnix japonica ) is one of the best breeds raised for the production of meat and eggs. It produces a lot of them compared to other quail breeds, and this breed is known by several names such as Japanese quail, or Pharaoh quail, and it is considered one of the easy breeds to raise, even one of the easiest breeds, and it is suitable for new breeders.

The bird of this breed reaches maturity in about seven weeks, and then it can start laying eggs, including different types such as tuxedo, golden, rosetta, jumbo, and many others.

Pop white quail

The Bobwhite Quail is considered one of the most famous breeds of quail. It needs 16 weeks to reach maturity, and 26 weeks to reach the age of reproduction and laying eggs. It is divided into 22 subspecies,  and the homeland of this quail is North America. Also known as Virginia quail, they are a hardy species that can adapt to a wide range of environments and are commonly raised for meat and as pets.

Gamble quail

The original homeland of this species (Gambel Quail) (scientific name: Callipepla gambelii ) is the southwestern regions of the United States and northern Mexico. Males are distinguished by the erect red plume above their heads, and their meat is considered low-fat and delicious.  This species combines color Grey, chestnut, and cream.

Mountain quail

This type is not considered a very common species, and it is the most expensive. Raising young ones requires feeding them manually for a certain period until they begin to eat on their own, and reach maturity after six months.  It is considered one of the medium-sized breeds that are widespread in the western United States, and is famous With its distinctive plume of feathers hanging forward, it prefers to live in coniferous forest areas and oak forests.

King quail

King quail, also known as button quail or Chinese painted quail, are a distinctive small species, beautiful birds with colorful plumage, reaching full maturity in approximately 12 weeks.

This type is characterized by the production of small eggs, and they usually die quickly. They prefer to live in a warm climate, but cannot live in a cold climate.  It is the smallest type among all quail breeds. Its native habitat is the continent of Asia, especially the countries of China and India. This type of quail is usually raised in order to produce delicious eggs.
